HUSBAND’S GUIDE: 30 WAYS TO LEAD THE FAMILY

Husband the leader of the family.
God placed man in a strategic and unique position in the family. The man occupies the strategic position as husband, father of his children, the head and leader of the home. The principles of good leadership applies, whether you are in a position to lead large or small size family and the pitfall of bad home leader can trip you up whether you run a large or small size family.
This article will refresh your soul and remind you what leadership is all about. They point out the character traits that are necessary to be a leader of home that people will want to follow. This will encourage you to walk in the path towards your dream, bringing other member of the family with you as you go on marriage life journey.

1. DO THE COMMON THINGS UNCOMMONLY WELL FOR YOUR PARTNER AND CHILDREN.
The little but common things done in love and sincerity of heart by the man for the member of the family will go along way to foster relationship and happiness in the home. It is like a healing balm. The bible says:
“Do you see any truly competent worker?
they will serve kings rather than ordinary people”
                                                                                  Proverbs 22: 22

The secret of success is to do the common things
                            uncommonly well”. Dr eugene swearingen
The head of the home should not let any obstacle stop him from reaching his goals for the family.            Persistence and patience produce position results. A leader doesn’t allow any obstacle to stop him from reaching his goals.

2. KEEP MOVING FORWARD
The man (the husband) as the head of the family must be moving forward and encourage other member of the family to do same. Husband is to move forward spiritually, financially educationally and socially. You must not be stagnant. Look out for the way and means you improve yourself. Being devoted to God and practice His presence, improve on your education level this will enable you to change your job and improve your takes home or establish a small scale business that could bring in more money and even employ others. The bible says:
“Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper and be satisfied” Proverbs 13:4

“The way to get to the top is to get off your bottom”
A leader isn’t leading if he is not moving forward. I say you must move forward in the name of Jesus.

3. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER… GIVE UP
Never think of giving up the marriage relationship in spite of BIG problem in the marriage. Our true potential for the development of the family will remain asleep unless rudely woken up by BIG problems. The bible says:
“So don’t of doing what is good, don’t get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time” Galatians 6:19
                              Never, never, never…Give up.
                                                             -Winston Churchill

Alarm clock wake up ordinary men; but only trouble or problem can wake up sleeping giants! Trouble or problem is the only key that unlock the potential time”.
                                                                 -Lawrence Akapa
Trouble or problem should be seen as a means of promotion or elevation if we never, never, give up .

4. ENCOURAGE YOUR SPOUSE IN HER PROFESSION, VOCATION OR TRADE
Behavioral researchers have discovered that when people enjoy their work and feel it is meaningful, they are more productive, more open to improvement and are more concerned about the quality of their work. As their levels of productivity and quality rise, they become more efficient and actually begin to earn more either through promotions, pay rise or broader customer base. As their income increases, they tend to enjoy their work and marriage
For a man to be an effective partner and leader in the house he must find pleasure in his spouse to do same. For something you sincerely enjoy doing, follow your marriage and career. The Bible says:
“You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How happy will be:
How rich your life. Psalm 128:2

To love what you do and feel that it matter how could
anything be more fun?
-Arnold Bennett

5. DON’T  ABANDOM ANY PROJECT
A man should learn how to start and finish all projects as much as it lies within the man as the head of the family. The project could either be personal, household, or family projects.

I read about the Brooklyn Bridge (which links Brook to Manhattan Island) as one of the famous bridges in the world. At the time it was first conceived in 1883, however, bridge-building expert throughout the world told the designer, a creative engineer whose name was John Roebling, that his idea would not work. Roebling convinced his Washington, who was also had merit. The two of them develop the concept, resolved the problem others had forecasted and enthusiastically hired a crew to build their bridge. After only a few months of building, a tragic accident occurred on site, which took John’s life and severely injured Washington, who became unable to walk and talk. Everyone thought that the project would have to be ones who knew the dynamics of building the bridge. Washington, however, could still think and he had a burning desire to see the bridge finished. As he had an idea. He would communicate with the engineers by using one finger to tap out in code on his wife’s arm what he wanted her to tell them. Washington tapped out his instruction for thirteen year until the bridge was built!
Apostles Paul “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course….”
 -2 Timothy 4:7
“The test of first-rate work is that you finished it.”
 - Katherin Graham

Don’t let one success keep you from pressing on to bigger and better things.
As a man constantly set new goal for your self and for the family toward building happy and successful marriage

A little extra sleep; a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to
rest – and poverty will pounce on you like a bandit, scarcity will attack you
like an armed robber. -Proverbs 24:33, 34

Laziness travels so slowly, that poverty so overtake him
-Lillian Dickson

9.MAKE PERSONAL SACRIFIES
Jesus Christ, the head of the church willingly offered Himself as a sacrifice for the redemption of the church. Likewise, Husband as the head of the family are expected to make personal sacrifice for the marriage and the family. The personal sacrifices may not be valued in monetary term but more precious than gold and silver. Such sacrifices includes but not limited to finance comfort, time , peace happiness, conveniences, safety, security, prestige and honor at the alter of love .
The Bible says:

“….For your life is like the morning for its here a little with, then it’s gone
James 4:14
“Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only
spend it once” -cervantes
personal sacrifice is to a partner. It bring hope and encouragement to weary the partner. It produces growth and maturity. There is no true leadership or headship without some kinds of sacrifice

10. BE DILIGENT
The opposite of diligences is not negligence. As a man and the head of the home, you should make sure that you take care of routine tasks, follows normal procedures and expect your household to do what is expected in vacation or trade. Whereby the man is negligent, the cost may be too enormous to bear, this may includes loss of partner, loss of house wares, disaster; it may also effect safety, security, or comfort of the home or others.
The bible says: “…The hand of the diligent makes rich”. Proverb 10:4(NKJV)
